Which Orisha?
Yemanja (or Yemoja) is the West African Yoruba deity who is associated with our natural satellite. Her domains are the surface of the Ocean and all phases of the moon. This makes perfect sense. Be reminded that the moon controls the rise and fall of the tides. See the animation diagram below and Read more here:

Distance to the earth?
The 2018 January Full Moon is said to be at perigee, meaning that this Full Moon phase will appear to be larger than usual, due to its proximity to the earth. The closer the moon comes towards us (perigee) the larger it appears. The further away it becomes (apogee) the smaller it appears. Read more about the moon here:

Happy New Year To All Our Readers
Let us take a moment to reflect on the developments on the Global stage: 2018 is another milestone towards the Millennium Development Goals, with 12 years remaining to meet the targets of the GLOBAL SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS in 2030. Full speed ahead to all those life affirming organisations and hard working individuals who are earnestly making a difference in the lives of those facing life threatening challenges. We say well done.
